Do I REALLY Need a Wedding Planner? (Spoiler: YES!)

Here’s the long and short of it: you can book all the best wedding vendors your market has to offer, but if you’re too stressed out during the wedding planning—and heaven forbid on the wedding day—to enjoy any of it, what’s the point? Wedding planners are there to do all the heavy lifting for you. You’re not super organized? No problem. You’re not good at making plans? Doesn’t matter. Not good at staying on schedule, or making other people stay on schedule? Now you don’t even have to worry about it. Wedding planners are there to do as much or as little as you want them to do, and they’re dang good at it. They can schedule meetings with vendors. They can put together timelines. They can set up perfect brunches and rehearsal dinners. They can run the ceremony. They can keep the wedding party in order. They can do it all!

And while I think it would be supremely helpful to have one with you every step of the way during your engagement period, some people might be more naturally gifted when it comes to planning, and might actually WANT to do all of the planning for their wedding! I totally get this, because I’m the exact same way. Planning comes easily for me, and I enjoy it. But you better believe I’ve hired a planner to join the process with me once it gets closer to the wedding date. Because, if for no other reason (although there’s plenty), planner’s are an extremely important part of the wedding day team. If something goes wrong, do you as a bride want to be answering questions and solving problems? Or do you want to sit back blissfully unaware and have someone else keeping all the wheels turning, while you’re able to sit back and relax and enjoy the day?

Everyone’s different, and everyone has different needs…particularly when it comes to their wedding budget. I know and completely understand that hiring a wedding planner isn’t a realistic option for many brides. And I’m certainly not saying that the wedding planning and wedding day will be miserable if you don’t have one! But I am saying that if at all possible, consider moving some things around to allow for the extra expense. Because it will be so, so worth it.
