On November 21, 2016, John + Kendall were visiting the Botanical Gardens in Huntsville. They had been dating a little over a year at this point, and both of them knew what they wanted their forever to look like. When they got to a beautiful open area of the gardens, John asked Kendall what her ring size was so he could go talk to a jeweler. Kendall’s joy (and a little bit of frazzled-ness) left her speechless, so John pulled a ring out of his pocket. “Well why don’t you just try this one on and see if it fits?” Kendall burst into tears, John got down on one knee, and neither of them really remember the rest. They laughed and rejoiced and celebrated with their friends and family, and turned another page towards the chapter of life called marriage.
After months of emailing back and forth, I finally got to meet these two in person only 2 weeks before the wedding. I asked them early on what a typical date night looked like for the two of them, and when “pizza and beer” was revealed as their favorite way to spend a chill evening together, it felt fitting for us to take their engagement pictures in downtown Avondale, just outside of Birmingham. We walked around the city streets and then finished up at Avondale Brewery, where the couple shared a beer together and we all sat down to hang out and talk wedding details.
John and Kendall are 100% my kind of people. Their engagement session was relaxed and fun, and their wedding will be just as beautiful.
