THE EXPERIENCE

01

THE CONSULTATION

The first thing I like to do after receiving your inquiry is set up a time for us to meet and talk. I prefer to do this in person (let’s grab coffee or a beer, my treat!), but FaceTime or a phone call works great too. This is where you can tell me about yourself, what type of session you’re wanting, what you’re excited or nervous about, etc. The consultation helps me get a feel for what you’re looking for, and allows you to get to know me a bit better. It can be awkward having a complete stranger shove a camera in your face, so meeting ahead of time will allow you to ask questions, relax, and feel comfortable around me! Once the session arrives, we’ll hopefully feel more like friends than business associates <3

02

THE DECISION

Documenting moments in our everyday lives is both incredibly important and powerfully evocative; you’ll be able to look back at these photos 5, 10, even 50 years from now and have tangible reminders of years gone by. Choosing someone to entrust with this responsibility should never be taken lightly! They’ll use their expertise to create well-lit and beautifully-edited photos that accurately portray the emotions and personalities of their subjects. They’ll also play a huge role in setting the tone for the session, making you feel confident and comfortable, and giving you a positive experience you’ll never forget. If you’ve decided that I’m that person for you...hot damn. I'm so incredibly honored!!! To officially book your session, a 50% retainer fee and signed contract make me all yours.

03

THE PREPARATION

Welcome to the KJC family! Once we’ve dotted all the Is and crossed all the Ts, we get to move on to the fun stuff. I’ll send you my Portrait Preparation Guide shortly after the booking process is complete; this will be your holy grail of info on how to prepare for your session. It’s a PDF loaded with outfit ideas, beauty tips, location suggestions, album info, and more. I’ll also be available to you at all times if you need to ask questions or get advice as you prepare for the day of the session.

04

THE DAY OF

It’s finally here, and we’re gonna have a blast! All you have to do is show up, relax, and trust me. I’ve got you.

05

THE PHOTOS

Here comes the best part of all!!! Just 2-4 weeks after your session you’ll receive an email from yours truly containing a link to your online gallery. This gallery stays online indefinitely and is home to all of your high-resolution digital images. You’re welcome to save + share + print the images wherever you’d like, but I always recommend purchasing prints and other fun products directly from your online gallery. It's connected to a professional printing lab and helps ensure that your photos will be printed most accurately to their intended colors!

Katie took some of the most important pictures I will ever have taken for me. I can’t even express how much I love and cherish them.

Q: WHERE ARE YOU BASED? DO YOU EVER TRAVEL?

A: My business is based in Augusta, Georgia, but I’m available for travel anywhere nationwide. Tell me where you wanna shoot and I’ll be there! (Travel fees may apply. International travel not currently available).

Q: WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PHOTOS?

A: Your online gallery will be delivered no later than 4 weeks from the date of your session, but unless it's busy season, I typically get them delivered closer to the 2-week mark.

Q: CAN I SEE THE UNEDITED PHOTOS?

A: Nope! I only send you the very best images (I get rid of all duplicates, eyes closed, etc.) and I only deliver them edited and in their final format. A chef doesn’t send individual, uncooked ingredients to your table...she only delivers once they’ve been combined, cooked, and perfected. The same is true for photographers.

Q: CAN I PRINT MY PHOTOS?

A: Absolutely. You’ll receive a print release and an online gallery of your high-resolution digital images. You can print straight from your gallery (which is connected to a professional printing lab) or you can download the files and use your print release to print anywhere you’d like.

Q: DO YOU OFFER PHOTO ALBUMS?

A: Yes! I offer high-quality, professional albums with beautiful cover styles and materials. You can choose from linen, leather, or velvet covers and there are countless customization options from there. More info about albums is included in my Portrait Preparation Guide.

Q: WHAT IF I’M...LIKE...*REALLY* BAD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA??

A: Don't you fret. Everyone thinks they’re awkward in front of the camera, but the good news is that I’m excellent at what I do, and I’ve done it a lot. All you have to do is show up, trust me, and relax. I’ll take care of the rest.

Q: WILL YOU HELP ME IF I HAVE QUESTIONS?
A: Absolutely! My job is so much more than just showing up and taking pictures. There’s work that goes into it beforehand, and work that goes into it afterward, and I’m available to help you with any of it all along the way.

Q: ARE YOU RUNNING YOUR BUSINESS LEGALLY?

A: You bet. I pay sales tax and income tax and I have a business license and business insurance. Anyone not doing those things is putting both you AND themselves at risk! Be sure to invest in someone who's dotted all their Is and crossed all their Ts.

Q: HOW DO YOU BACK UP + PROTECT MY IMAGES?

A: I have several steps in place to make sure your photographs are safe. 1) I bring backup gear every time I'm working. 2) I upload all of your original AND edited files to an online storage system. 3) I upload all of your edited images to your online PIC-TIME gallery. 4) I always have two backups of my entire computer on separate external hard drives.

Q: HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO YOU BOOK?

A: I don’t book portrait sessions on Saturdays more than one month in advance (Fridays and Sundays are almost always an option), but weekdays are always available.

Q: HOW DO I OFFICIALLY HIRE YOU?

A: I require a signed contract and a 50% retainer fee up front (with the remaining 50% due 1 week before your session). Once those two things are done, I'm all yours!
