THE EXPERIENCE

01

THE CONSULTATION

The first thing I like to do after receiving your inquiry is set up a time for us to meet and talk. I prefer to do this in person (let’s grab coffee or a beer, my treat!), but FaceTime or a phone call works great too. This is where you can tell me about yourself, what type of session you’re wanting, what you’re excited or nervous about, etc. The consultation helps me get a feel for what you’re looking for, and allows you to get to know me a bit better. It’s always awkward having a complete stranger shove a camera in your face, so meeting ahead of time will allow you to ask questions, relax, and feel comfortable around me; once the session arrives, we’ll hopefully feel more like friends than business associates!

02

THE DECISION

Documenting moments in our everyday lives is both incredibly important and powerfully evocative; you’ll be able to look back at these photos 5, 10, even 50 years from now and have tangible reminders of years gone by. Choosing someone to entrust with this responsibility should never be taken lightly. They’ll use their expertise to create well-lit and beautifully edited photos that accurately portray the emotions and personalities of their subjects. They’ll also play a huge role in setting the tone for the session, making you feel confident and comfortable, and giving you a positive experience you’ll never forget. If you’ve decided that I’m that person for you...wow. I am so incredibly honored. To officially book your session, a 50% retainer fee and signed contract make me all yours.

03

THE PREPARATION

Welcome to the KJC family! Once we’ve dotted all the Is and crossed all the Ts, we get to move on to the fun stuff. I’ll send you my Portrait Preparation Guide shortly after the booking process is complete; this will be your holy grail of portrait info! It’s a PDF loaded with outfit ideas, beauty tips, location suggestions, album info, and more. I’ll also be available to you at all times if you need to ask questions or get advice as you prepare for the day of the session.

04

THE DAY OF

It’s finally here, and we’re gonna have a blast! All you have to do is show up, relax, and trust me. I’ve got you.

THE PHOTOS

In 1-3 weeks you’ll receive an online gallery with all of your high resolution digital images. You’re welcome to save + share + print the images wherever you’d like, but I always recommend purchasing prints directly from your online gallery, as it is connected to a professional printing lab and helps ensure that your photos will be printed most accurately to their intended colors.

I also offer beautiful heirloom albums should you decide you want a professional, tangible product without the hassle of creating it yourself.

Katie took some of the most important pictures I will ever have taken for me. I can’t even express how much I love and cherish them.

Q: WHERE ARE YOU BASED + ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?

A: I live and work in Florence, Alabama, but I’m available for travel nationwide. Tell me where you wanna shoot, anywhere nationwide, and I’ll be there. (Travel fees apply).

Q: WHEN DO WE GET TO SEE OUR PHOTOS?

A: Your online gallery will be delivered no later than 3 weeks from the session date, but I typically get them delivered closer to the 1-week mark.

Q: ARE YOU RUNNING YOUR BUSINESS LEGALLY?

A: You bet. I pay sales tax and income tax and I have a business license and business insurance. Anyone not doing those things is putting both you AND themselves at risk.

Q: WILL YOU HELP US IF WE HAVE QUESTIONS?

A: Absolutely. My job is so much more than just showing up and shooting. There’s work that goes into it beforehand, and work that goes into it afterward, and I’m available to help you with any of it all along the way.

Q: CAN I SEE ALL OF MY IMAGES, EVEN THE UNEDITED ONES?

A: Nope! I only deliver the very best images (I get rid of all duplicates, eyes closed, etc.) and I only deliver them edited and in their final format. A chef doesn’t send individual, uncooked ingredients to your table; he only delivers once they’ve been combined, cooked and perfected. The same is true for photographers.

Q: WHAT IF I’M, LIKE, *REALLY* BAD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA?

A: Don’t you fret. Everyone thinks they’re awkward in front of the camera, but the good news is that I’m excellent at what I do, and I’ve done it a lot. All you have to do is show up, trust me, and relax. I’ll take care of the rest.

Q: HOW DO YOU BACK UP + PROTECT MY IMAGES?

A: I have several steps in place to make sure that your memories and photographs are safe with me. I bring backup gear to every wedding and session. I upload all of your original AND edited files to an online storage system, I upload all of your edited images to your online PASS gallery (which stays online for 10 years), and I always have two backups of my entire computer on separate external hard drives.

Q: HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO YOU BOOK?

A: I don’t book portrait session on Saturdays more than one month in advance (Fridays and Sunday are almost always an option), but weekdays are always available.

Q: HOW DO WE OFFICIALLY RESERVE OUR DATE?

A: I require a signed contract and a 50% retainer fee up front, with the remaining 50% due anytime before the start of your session.
